In a perfect world….all the color in your garden would derive from flowers. A bright and bold mix of annuals and perennials staggered to reveal the creme de la creme of gardens. But it’s not a perfect world. Right?! I find that I like supplementing my garden beds with decor that satisfies my creative instincts and need for color. Unlike flowers, decor requires no care or extra effort. Decor doesn’t die from lack of water. For this reason alone, I appreciate the unique, hand-fashioned sculptures of Desert Steel that step in when my flowers fade. Their eye-popping bird feeders lure in a crowd of colorful feathered friends adding depth and dimension to the landscape. So I’m thrilled to introduce you to the standing Blueberry Pie Coneflower (ARV $70) and the hanging Crab Apple bird feeder (ARV $40) from Desert Steel. And you nailed it, this means two winners today!!! To enter, like the Raise Your Garden Facebook page and share this post or sign up for our newsletter. For two entries, do both. YOU CAN EARN ONE ENTRY PER DAY BY COMMENTING ON ANY OF OUR OTHER POSTS. Let us know that you have entered by telling us about your favorite bird. Crab Apple Bird Feeder Product Specs for our second place winner!!

  • Durable, all-weather steel construction
  • Stem and chain included
  • Water drainage holes
  • Measures 9”W x 11.5”H

We should note that the Crab Apple bird feeder is both easy to clean and easy to fill. Because it doesn’t have any holes in the sides, you can use any type of seed you wish without fear of it falling through any crevices. Just drop the seed in the top and wait literally seconds until those hungry birds arrive.

Why it’s time you feed those birds with Desert Steel….

I’m not one of those people with binoculars in hand who heads to the local park sitting quietly for hours on end seeking specific birds. But enjoying them in the privacy of my backyard? Ideal. Especially if a hammock is involved.

Bird watching and bird feeding is a relatively cheap hobby that is both relaxing and fun. It can take a lot of time or almost none at all. Try it solo or as new activity with the whole family. You get to choose what types of birds you want to attract with whatever seed you buy. And of course the birds will vary greatly by your geographical area.

But feeding the birds with Desert Steel is the best bang for your buck because you can have it all! Functionality marries these beautifully elegant bird feeders that display just as well as a sculpture of art in your yard. Birds are strongly attracted to the bright and bold colors of these feeders so be prepared to keep refilling!

So I know I’ve said this before, but I must say it again. With Desert Steel, it’s quality, quality, quality.

Blueberry Pie Coneflower Product Specs…

  • Durable, all-weather steel construction
  • Assembles in minutes and stakes directly into the garden
  • Foot stake included for easy placement
  • Fills from the top
  • Works with a variety of seed types
  • Measures 14”W x 36”H

Tom and I love how easy it is to move the Blueberry Pie Coneflower feeder around the yard and landscape. Our backyard turned out to be a bad location due to the relentless squirrel population. Eat and poop. Eat and poop. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Those dang squirrels! But now in the front landscape, I can watch the birds from my front windows and also enjoy the view each and every time I step out the door.

Why we can’t decide which feeder we like better!!

I honestly don’t know which feeder is preferable. Both colors are strikingly gorgeous and create such a dynamic statement to my sometimes “blah” yard. They are easy to move and easy to fill. It’s great to change up the seed I put in these feeders, although I prefer the black-oil sunflower seed for the coneflower feeder.

But the Crab Apple feeder is so lusciously lovely in pink and can be hung on any tree or garden hook. It’s making me wish we had planted a crap apple tree in our yard to hang it on. Someday! I enjoy seeing several birds sit on it at once to feed. So cute!
