Personally, I don’t care and my wife says she doesn’t care either. We just find it slightly humorous that so many random strangers come up to us just to say how much the kids look like me.
My older daughter in particular could be my female twin. She looks just like me! Especially her big eyes. It’s like looking in a mirror. Unreal. There’s not one thing about her that resembles my wife at all. My younger daughter looks like me too, I think, but my wife disagrees. She thinks Esther doesn’t look like either of us except for the button nose. Both girls inherited my button nose. And chubbyish cheeks. Other than that, my wife and I have brown hair and brown eyes which both girls have so it’s tough to say where they got those traits from (me, of course!).
We were in Bed, Bath and Beyond the other day and some total stranger walks very fast past us, backs up quickly and announces…..”Wow, those girls look just like you, nothing like your wife at all, not a bit.” And we laughed, knowing full well this to be true. It’s surprising too that people feel the need to tell you something you must already know.
Someone even told us once about Emma, “Well, if that kid ever got lost, people would know exactly where to return her.” Well, that’s true too.
Is this even an issue in your household? Do random people come up to you to tell you who the kids look like? Or maybe people come up to you to tell you they don’t look like either of you. Are your kids a blend of both parents or do they strikingly resemble one person over the other?
