There are a few objects in my home that get used every single solitary day. Without exception.

Like my favorite coffee cup.

My most comfy slippers.

And my all new 5-in-1 home weather station from AcuRite.

As I wake, the weather is always foremost on my mind. After all, weather impacts what one will do, go, wear and even how one feels.

Rainy or sunny? Humid or dry? Wind speed? Even the week’s weather. Who doesn’t look ahead to see what’s in store?

Birthdays. Holidays. Weekends. We want to know what the weather will be so we can plan accordingly. I use my 5-in-1 weather station 100 times a day!

So I am thrilled for your chance of winning the 5-in-1 Weather Station with Direct to Wi-Fi Display from AcuRite, a real game-changer in the realm of weather.

Just scroll down and fill out the SweepWidget form at the bottom of this post. It’s that simple to enter!

What is a Weather Station?

So a weather station. What is it exactly?

A weather station is a small high-tech gadget that gives you the most accurate and reliable local weather. Equipped with various monitors and sensors it helps determine real time weather in your area.

Good weather stations also provide you with indoor/outdoor temps, wind chill, dew point, humidity, rainfall, wind direction and speed, barometric pressure and the daily/weekly forecast.

Advanced systems such as the AcuRite 5-in-1 provides daily reports of actual rainfall totals. As a gardener, this helps me water my plants more efficiently, even allowing me to see if I can skip watering altogether that day.

And a weather station will keep you in line as the AcuRite 5-in-1 also provides the date and time. So it’s a device that does it all.

You will find yourself glancing up at this device dozens (if not 100 times a day) for the time, the current weather and the date so you can schedule your doctor’s appointments.

Weather Obsessed?

Weather obsessed? Me too.

My parents own an AcuRite Weather Station at their cottage. Sometimes my family stays there. It’s the first thing I look at in the morning and the last I glance at before turning in for the night.

Not only for the weather, but for the time. And I want to be aware if it’s raining or if it’s going to rain or snow.

I want to know the precise local temperature without having to turn on my TV or check my phone. This device alerts me on how to dress for the day, especially in fall and spring where temps can be all over the place.

Funny thing is…when Tom and I bought our own cottage, there was no AcuRite Weather Station. I found myself lost! I kept looking for the AcuRite Weather Station that simply wasn’t there.

So I didn’t know how warm to dress for the day or if I’d need an umbrella. And I didn’t know how to dress the kids.

Should I tell them to wear shorts, three-quarter pants or jeans? The weather makes a difference in how one dresses for the day!

Clearly, we needed an AcuRite at our cottage.

Installing the 5-in-1 AcuRite Home Weather Station

So Tom loves technology and installed the AcuRite weather station. The first decision is to decide where to mount your weather station.

Tom put mine right next to the couch where I can obsessively check the weather a million times a day. It’s also conveniently located close to my front door so I can double check the weather before leaving the house.

Once you put in the four AA alkaline batteries, it’s time to plug in your adapter and configure the settings. None of this is taxing or hard.

The most difficult decision is where to mount the outdoor sensor. You need to find an outdoor space that’s at least 5 feet off the ground. Tom mounted ours to our wood stacker.

Just make sure the front solar cell is facing south, away from heat and humidity sources to get a precise read.

Also, level for accurate rain reporting using bubble level on top of the sensor.

The Outdoor Mount Sensor really makes you feel like you’re a meteorologist! It spins, whirs and twirls doing the job it was born to do! It’s wonderful that AcuRite has included The Outdoor Mount Sensor in this package!

How the AcuRite Home Weather Station works with Wi-Fi!

My favorite part of the AcruRite 5-in-1 weather station is how I can use my phone on Wi-Fi to check the weather when I’m on-the-go.

It’s convenient to check the current weather and to scan ahead to the 7 day forecast. I want to know what’s ahead!

It’s equally fun checking the sunrise and sunset times. Not sure why this is such a fascination with me, but it is.

But Tom loves checking wind direction. For a guy who loves fishing, it a big difference.

If it’s an east wind, he knows to not even bother to fish Lake Ontario because when winds are from the east fishing is least. That east winds cools the water and the fish vacate.

And… when winds are from the west fishing is best! It’s great for him to be able to accurately check the winds before deciding whether to fish or not.

But equally important it being able to check wind speed when we are away from home on the phone. It helps us protect our home from weather damage.

If gusty winds are on the horizon, we know to prepare first by putting away those lightweight beach umbrellas and other stuff that tends to blow in the wind.

Indoor versus outdoor temps

Indoor versus outdoor temps. I care! How about you?

It’s no secret that knowing the outdoor temperature is a huge priority in life.

This is especially true when I go to take the dogs outside to “do their business.” Dachshunds are notorious for not liking to get wet in the rain.

It’s amazing to glance at my 5-in-1 home weather station to check the rain status without having to squint outside to see if I can spot any drizzle.

Yes, even drizzle bogs my dachshunds down. They simply won’t go outside.

But equally thrilling is double checking indoor temps. I want to know the inside temp of my house. Why? Because we burn wood. Tom and I like to find a balance between furnace heat and heat coming from our wood stove.

Personally, 80 degrees would suit me just fine and 60 degrees Tom. But we strike a balance at that 70 degree mark.

The indoor temperature guide on the 5-in-one AcuRite home weather station helps us meet in the middle!

Final thoughts…

The AcuRite 5-in-1 home weather station makes you a meteorologist without needing the degree.

One can check the weather all day long and get a reliable read! Home or away from home on your phone. How convenient and helpful is that?

Local weather. The weather that impacts you and your family right now.

Indoor or outdoor temperatures. You got it. Dew point, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, rain accumulation, humidity. You’re in-the-know!

Before putting the kids on the bus, I glance one more time to see what type of jacket they should wear and if we need to grab umbrellas.

There are plenty of companies that make weather stations, but I will say AcuRite makes some of the best. Weather stations that will suit you and your home, your lifestyle and budget.

Life is good with AcuRite.

Oh, how I would love this. We have a mini weather station that measures indoor and outdoor temperature and I have the indoor one in our bedroom and living room. I need to know the temperature of both rooms 🙂

The anemometer and rain gauge on our old rain station stopped working a couple years ago. It’s kind of a bummer because we live in an area that gets a lot of wind and rain, and it’s nice to be able to keep track. We keep talking about replacing it, but never seem to get around to it.

My bf’s birthday is coming up, and he’s really hard to shop for. (He’s one of those people who really doesn’t need/want anything.) Just yesterday, I thought, “Oh, I could replace the weather station!” I spent some time looking at them online, then realized he wouldn’t want me to spend that much money on him right before Christmas. I made a mental note to keep an eye out for pre-holiday sales. This morning I received the email regarding the AcuRite giveaway, then noticed it happens to end on his actual birthday! *crossing fingers, hoping the universe sends it my way* 🙂

Yes! I’m totally weather obsessed. I had a weather station but the outdoor sensor broke and I couldn’t find a replacement for it but I still use the indoor temp because we too try to keep our home at 70 degrees. Thanks for the chance!

I couldn’t find a link to check you out on Amazon. I love how much information this weather station provides. I have two clocks but they only give out the outdoor and indoor temperature plus time and date. One of my clock’s outdoor temperature reading doesn’t even work anymore.
