What could be sweeter than a juicy tropical pineapple?

How about an exotic pineapple luminary from the fabulous Desert Steel?

A luminary is meant to be used inside or outside with a real, live flame or a battery-operated candle. Your choice! The inviting flame brings warmth and comfort while keeping the mosquitoes and other bugs away.

Top any table in style savoring long days and cool nights poolside or patio. The perfect accent piece with a Hawaiian vibe, display in your screened-in porch or that brand-new outdoor kitchen!

And buy a second pineapple to use on your dining room table for some fun without the sun.

The best of both worlds. Even better? Desert Steel is giving two very lucky winners their own pineapple luminary. I hope it’s you! ARV $60!

How to enter to win!

Simply fill out the SweepWidget form at the very bottom of this post!

A valid and correct email address is required if you win.

The instant pineapple…

Real pineapples take a lot of effort to cultivate. We’re talking between 14-18 months from start to finish (harvest).

But a Desert Steel pineapple is ready and waiting for you with an easy assembly that takes about two minutes. Just a few screws and bolts to hold the halves and stem together.

And since pineapples have come to symbolize qualities we appreciate in our homes like friendship, hospitality, and warmth, you might have to order two luminaries.

That’s why so many homeowners use pineapple decor on their front porches and entryways to welcome guests. Hospitality rules!

When I ripped open the pineapple luminary from Desert Steel my first impression was… ”wow, this is so much larger than expected. Too cute. Love it! Can’t wait to use it.”

It’s wonderful all lit up making guests feel warm and welcome with the light glowing from the numerous slits.

The pineapple sets the tone for the party. Know what I mean? How can you even think to host a pool party without a pineapple centerpiece luminary to set the stage?

Have a picnic table? How about a pineapple luminary on top to steal the show?

Unimaginable. Why bother to have people over at all if you don’t have a Desert Steel pineapple luminary.

Pineapple Fast Facts!

  • The pineapple originates from Brazil.
  • It was the Spanish who eventually gave the fruit the name “pineapple” due to their appearance, as they resembled pine cones.
  • Hawaii produces about 1/3 of all pineapples in the world.
  • Pineapples contain the bromelain enzyme which can break down proteins, so you can use them to tenderize meat.
  • Pineapple is pollinated by some birds and even bats. The hummingbird is one such bird that is responsible for the pollination of pineapples.
  • When picked at peak freshness, a pineapple can only survive for about 1 month.
  • Pineapples regenerate! You can plant pineapple leaves to grow a new plant.
  • Pineapple is the only edible fruit of its kind, the Bromeliads. (And when I was at Disney World a couple of years ago, I noted Bromeliads growing alongside pineapples in the landscape!)
  • Pineapples are a cluster of hundreds of fruitlets.
  • Pineapples ripen faster upside dow

A flame with a tropical flare

The Desert Steel Pineapple Luminary will look wonderful with any tropical decor you already own and of course, you can always add!

For my wedding, my aunt gave me plates with pineapples on them. Can’t get enough of the tropical vibe. Still use those vibrantly fun plates.

Now I use the plates with the luminary for a dynamic show!

If you want to see real pineapples in person, you’ll likely have to travel to Costa Rica, Brazil, the Philippines, or Hawaii, all the major hot spots for pineapple growing.

The edible pineapple on my countertop came from Costa Rica according to the tag. The non-edible Desert Steel pineapple is designed in Wichita, Kansas.

Both are delightful and fulfill a purpose! But you’ll want to pair the Desert Steel pineapple with a few of their other amazing products including bird feeders, solar lights, and torches.

That’s what I marvel at most with Desert Steel. The stupendous selection and creativity of their pieces. They are just fun! And we can all use a little more fun these days.

Garden art is incredibly fun!

Product Specs…

  • UV/fade resistant
  • Rust proof
  • Indoor or outdoor use
  • Large 4” opening for candle/light (not included)
  • Works best with a flameless or 3-wick jar candle

8”W x 21”H

Starting with a flat sheet of Kansas steel, parts are cut, folded, pressed, welded and hand-formed to create unique pieces of art.

So my new pineapple luminary resides on my back deck table. I just enjoy looking at it! Even better is the live flame (I decided on a citronella candle) that keeps all the bugs at bay.

Perfect when dining outside! No one wants bugs landing on your food and swarming around your head. Yikes!

Illuminating thought of the day…

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

The facts about fresh pineapples were very interesting. It’s the one fruit I usually buy ready sliced as I tend to always get whole ones that are too ripe for me, just by chance, not design.

Very nice. I love pineapples but can only eat the canned version because I am allergic to fresh pineapple.
