You know this question has been burning you up for years. What’s the difference between a shovel and a spade?  Ever since Corona Tools most generously sent us a few items to review, we’ve been amazed at how much more efficiently we work. And Corona was fun to partner with, even including us in the selection process! Tom is so enamored with his new spade that he’s been motivated to tackle projects he typically ignores. The side edging never looked so good! So I hope you’re ready to be the proud owner of the best shovel or spade you’ll ever own because Corona tools are of the highest caliber. I’ve personally never handled a higher quality tool. You need a good spade and shovel. You need them to dig, scoop, turn and chop, pry, edge, plant and cut roots. So leave a comment below telling us about your favorite tool to enter! (shovel or spade valued up to $120) CONTEST IS EXPIRED!

  • Both shovels and spades spot on for loosening soil. But shovels are better at moving soil from one place to another, because their scoop is deeper than that of a spade as shown above.
But you know, shovels and spades have a lot in common which is why they can be confused for each other in the first place. They are largely made from the same metals like steel, aluminum, iron or plastic.

  • They can both have a “D” shaped handle or just a straight handle or a “T” handle.

And you already know that rules are meant to be broken……right?!?

So I affectionately call the tool we received from Corona my Shovelly Spade because even though it has the distinct “spade” shape, it does have a super long handle and yes, even the pointed tip.

Corona Tools most graciously allowed us to pick any shovel/spade we liked and Tom went with the steel spade, 15″ diamond blade, 54″ steel handle. It was his turn to choose as most of the tools we already own are too short for him!

This spade is made up of aerospace steel for durability. Amazing. From top to bottom, this is the best spade you’ll ever own. The handle is too tall for me, but it’s spot on for him. These two were made for each other.

For serious workers only; this spade is going to new depths. For edging, planting trees, extracting bushes or any task that requires you to go deep – this is the spade for you!

Don’t worry, you can get Tom’s shovel or spade with a shorter handle as Corona Tools will allow you to pick the tool that suits you best. (I told you how nice they are, didn’t I…and how pleasant they were to work with….right…Chris was wonderful!) You will enjoy making a purchase from them.

They make over 400 hand tools, so the selection is incredible. This is where you’ll want to buy your hand pruners, snips & shears, loppers, saws, wheelbarrow, spades and shovels.

In fact, I’ve got this feeling that my great great grandchildren will be using Tom’s spade one day. It’s that high-end!

And I highly doubt you’ll reach for any other tool when you head to the garage, potting shed or barn for your tools.

Yes, it’s dirty. But that just shows that it’s getting a lot of use!

It comes with a a universal rubber footpad that is $15 alone. You will absolutely love this feature as it’s what allows you to dig so deep. Your weight on the footpad allows you to go great depths and get those dead rose bushes out of the yard and out of your life.

And I love the red handle We both find this feature useful when we misplace our spade.

Again. Dirty. But the work is getting done.

I just had this epiphany. And I have Corona Tools to thank for enlightening me. The quality of tool you use for garden and yard work makes a monumental difference. If you use the wrong tool, efficiency is lost! As Corona reminds me…the right tool saves both time and money. So let the tool do half the work with Corona!

And obviously, you use the tool that works best for you in the job you are trying to get done.

One last thing……Their website is incredibly user-friendly. It’s easy to find just the tool you are looking for with clear pictures and detailed product descriptions making navigation a breeze. And no, this is definitely not always the case! How many “bad” websites are out there. A ton!

Corona has a few more tools up their sleeve in the coming weeks ~ stayed tuned for those awesome giveaways! Many thanks to them. I loved reviewing their products!!
