It just may turn out to be one your most agonizing decisions ever. What color are you gonna choose? The struggle is real. Tom and I wrestled with the decision for hours. Blue? Lime green? Orange? White? Red? Black? WeatherWood? Cedar? Turquoise? Chocolate? Out of desperation, I even called on my mother to opine. Why? Because the Durawood Poly Lumber chairs from Nags Head Hammocks are the last forever variety. You buy them for now. You buy them for life. You will grow old together…awww! But just not gray together because the Sunrise Adirondack chairs from Nags Head Hammocks don’t fade over time. For the record, the chairs do come in a gray version, too. But I digress. Neither do these Adirondack chairs chip, crack, rot, rust, splinter or wear down. So I’m elated for you and your chance of winning the whopping $760 Sunrise Adirondack chair set from Nags Head Hammocks. The dynamic duo manufactured by Pawleys Island. To enter, like the Raise Your Garden Facebook page and share this post or sign up for our newsletter. What is Durawood  Poly Lumber and why is it fantastic?

Besides keeping all the plastic water bottles out of landfills there are other benefits to creating outdoor furniture out of poly including:

  • Poly Lumber can be kept out in the summer and winter without any adverse effects from the elements. Rain, wind, sleet, snow, and sun do not damage it. Saltwater, chlorine and mildew are never an issue.
  • Durawood Poly Lumber is as low-maintenance as it gets. Easy care. No special coatings, no sanding, no staining, no painting. Poly Lumber never fades. Clean with plain old soap and water. No need for harsh chemicals.
  • Plastic does not absorb moisture. So this material will not rot, splinter, or crack.  Poly Lumber is resistant to corrosive substances, oil and fuels, insects, and salt sprays.
  • Lifetime usage. Durawood Poly Lumber is so well constructed that you will grow old together!
  • My Nags Head Hammocks Durawood Poly Lumber chairs have some weight to them! While still being light enough to lug around the yard, they are extremely sturdy pieces of furniture. These aren’t the super cheap plastic chairs that blow away into your neighbors yard during wind storms!
  • Comfortable. Durawood Poly Lumber chairs are super cozy. I can’t believe it. Tom and I kept ours in the house for a month before the weather turned here. We both thought it funny that we preferred sitting in the Sunrise Adirondack chair than on the couch.
  • The colors. These Sunrise Adirondack chairs comes in a myriad of  14 colors including…. lime green, red, orange, blue, turquoise, chocolate, cedar and many more! You will find “the one” color that suits your tastes to a tee. And because it’s Durawood, your chair color will never fade!

Why we like to hang with Nags Head Hammocks…

It’s a new day dawning with the Pawleys Island Sunrise Adirondack Chairs from Nags Head Hammocks. So I must be straight up with you. I love working with Nags Head Hammocks because they always gear me up for vacation mode. Even surfing their bold, colorful and eye-popping  website puts me on that plane to vacay. Goodbye stress. Hello fun online shopping for quality outdoor furnishings. Nags Head Hammocks is one of the most organized consumer websites I’ve come across. Always easy to find what I’m looking for!

Nags Head Hammocks offers a wide spectrum of Hammocks, swings, Cumaru furniture (Brazilian teak that resists rotting), Adirondack chairs, Durawood sets, pillows, cushions and every accessory under the sun. Just lots of thrills and chills as I envision my backyard as it could be. A tranquil retreat to kick back and relax with family and friends.

Then I remember that Nags Head is an actual vacation destination that you or I could visit. Located in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, Nags Head is famous for their beaches in summer. But I appreciate the pirate lore and ghost stories – Blackbeard anyone? How exciting!

Sounds like a fabulous place to visit this summer, and if we do, you can bet we’ll be swinging by the Nags Head Hammocks brick and mortar store in Kill Devil Hills. (I mean, you can’t make these names up…I’m not that creative). But they also have two stores located in the Northern outer banks in Corolla and Duck. Maybe I’ll see you there? And yes, their products are fashioned right in the U.S.A. Gotta love that!

Because personable customer service is what Nags Head Hammocks does best. Real. Raw. Riveting. We love partnering with our Nags Head contact Emily and her professional yet fun vibe! She always gets back to us swiftly and answers our questions thoroughly. Thanks Emily! I feel like I’m working with family making this not just another business venture. {Insert inside joke about blue screws here}.

Why you must have these Adirondack chairs!

  • Durability. These traditionally styled Sunrise Adirondack chairs offer a lifetime of comfort and durability. There’s a reason Pawleys Island puts a lifetime warranty on them!
  • Classic. The Sunrise Adirondack chairs are a classic choice for outdoor furniture. Never will they go out of style or out of fashion. Adirondack chairs never do….right? Season after season you will relish your outdoor space kicking back in these chairs.
  • Comfy. Even without a cushion, I am still so comfortable in my chair! In fact, it’s the chair I use while feeding the baby. The wide arms are ideal for a cup of water on one side and the baby food on the other.
  • Size. I can’t say it enough. The size of these chairs is spot-on. My two girls can actually sit in this chair with me for story time. Okay. Okay. I love a wide seat! And I love knowing I own two chairs that can accommodate guests of every size and shape. Get my drift?!
  • Reclines just enough to relax. When you plunk down on some chairs, you’re pushed so far back that you can’t get up without assistance. Been there? Right. The sitting angle is so perfect that’s it’s ideal for reading or engaging in gripping conversations with the neighbors.
  • Speaking of neighbors. We have noticed that since we acquired these chairs, visits from our friends next door have been more frequent. We do not view this as a coincidence. They must just think our chairs are more comfy!
  • Fashioned by artisans in North Carolina, we appreciate their efforts of craftsmanship invested in the design. And did you know? North Carolina is a state richly endowed in the furniture craftsmanship tradition. We just love supporting U.S. born and bred companies!
  • Looks. Looks are important. That can’t be denied. These chairs are gorgeous! I could never tire of looking at the vibrant blue hue ingrained in my chair. But you choose the color chair you want to look at the rest of your life.

Embarrassing Adirondack chair story…

Tom is a socialite. He needs people. (Big introverted dork here). So we had a few lovely friends over to chill and grill with us last summer. Seated, I noticed this one guest starting to get a little topsy turvy in the cheap plastic Adirondack chair they were sitting in. Panic sets in my heart. What if our guest plops onto the grass?

I felt even guiltier because this malfunction was totally my fault. I had garbage-picked this lime green chair the day before and just realized the back foot had a crack. No doubt the root cause of all that wobbling. It could probably hold a child 40 pounds and under no problem….but a full-sized adult? No way.

If a guest were to fall backwards and get hurt in a chair provided by the host? Ouch. Humiliating for all. So I won’t speak for you, but when I cause a chair to collapse, I feel as if my Fitbit isn’t lying to me after all. I have been indulging in too much peanut butter pie! That third piece was a bad idea. My self-esteem sags. I holler for my friend to get up and haul the chair to the garage right then and there. (And less than 10 minutes later, someone else picks it from my garbage, should have taped a broken sign on it). Silly. Silly.

Patio furniture for the long haul

We both know there’s a tremendous price range when buying Adirondack chairs. Quality is at the heart of good furniture. Choose plastic, wood, metal, or Durawood Poly Lumber. I’ve seen colorful plastic chairs at the grocery store selling for $20. Tempting. But plastic cracks, fades, breaks, wears down and ultimately hit the garbage heap. Two seasons tops. Wood chairs are worth considering until the paint chips off and the wood splinters. Want to spend your summers re-painting chairs? Nope. Metal chairs? They rust. And I don’t want to re-paint them either. So Durawood Poly Lumber rises to the top as the best of the best!

As I get older and wiser, (ahem) I’m learning to invest in quality pieces. Better to own furniture for the long haul instead of buying cheap and constantly replacing. No one wants to fill landfills. Besides, it’s a pain to keep buying new stuff and those costs add up quickly, too. I’d rather get it right with Nags Head Hammocks the first time buying from a company that I trust and respect.

You probably remember that awesome hammock Nags Head Hammocks sponsored last summer? So that hammock is in my sun-room and looks brand new. Although it gets used a ton it certainly doesn’t look it. Spotless. Even when my 6-year-old smudged Doritos all over it with those sticky fingers of hers, I was easily able to spot clean it. It’s nice to own a few items that you can rely on year after year. I’m tired of purchasing replacements and having to haul new items home.

These Pawleys Island Adirondack chairs….pick the right color because you are spending the rest of your life together. Prettiest. Chairs. Ever. LOVE the curve on the top of the chair. Elegant and chic. Your children will inherit these chairs and unlike those 80’s clothes of yours will actually want them. No pressure! (This is meant to be a joke, but if you fuss too much about color then just ignore my silliness).
