Left Over Man

Every day when I sit down for dinner I realize my future fate.
Yesterday was taco night. I look to my right and I see my two year old playing
with her food.

Then she starts eating her food, first with her spoon but apparently she’s not efficient enough with that so she uses her hands. I understand the want for Esther (2yr) old to be independent but does she always have to wash her own hands. Really? What do they say the rule is, wash with warm water for 1 minute? How about splashing the water and making a mess until dad turns off the water. Those hands can’t be clean. Then I have to eat her leftover food. I look to my left and I see Emma my four year old wolfing down her food. You would have though that she had not eaten a meal in three days.  So when she say’s she wants more; Laura makes her another taco. Two bites in she hits the wall. Meanwhile I am full because I had already eaten my two tacos.

The look. Guys you know what I’m talking about. She doesn’t need to say anything, you know what she expects. Finish the kids food. When I was growing up I was a little bit of a germaphobe with food. For instance I did not want to share a glass of water with anyone, I mean anyone. Now I’m eating food that has changed form. This is gross.

Then comes day number two. I like day number two. First day leftovers. Laura packs my lunch for work the night before and it’s good! The problem comes in when she buys the value pack of meat and I end up eating taco’s for four straight meals, excluding breakfast of course. The interesting part is after the second round I notice Laura ends up making a salad or finding something else to eat. Well, I know my role. I accept my role and leftovers will forever be part of the meal plan. 🙂
