People have been stalling in front of my house when strolling past and I finally figured it out. They’re gawking at my new steel orange and white pumpkin luminaries from Desert Steel. In fact, one lady stopped, paused, ripped out a sheet of paper and made me write down the web address for Desert Steel so she could order. That’s the attention they are garnishing. And it’s true. They just highlight my curb appeal. During the day, they draw the eye. And during the night all lit up, they stun while glowing. I don’t know about you, but I start thinking about decorating with pumpkins in September and leave them up all the way to Thanksgiving. Fall decorating is the best, don’t you think? So I’m thrilled for two of you to win two of these beauties from Desert Steel valued at $130. To enter, like the Raise Your Garden Facebook page and share this post or sign up for our newsletter. For two entries, do both. Let us know in the comment section of this post what you did to enter!

Best part about these Desert Steel pumpkins?

I take that back because here are several stellar aspects of these pumpkins that have me hooked.

  • I love how they are made out of steel and can handle inclement weather. So if they get wet, bleh, who cares? They’ll be fine.
  • It’s also great that they can be used indoors or out. They look equally fantastic in both settings. So they’ll look lovely in your kitchen or bathroom but also nice on your front porch, walkway, patio or wherever you need to decorate!
  • The details are superb. The spiraling leaves on top. Nice. The stems. Real-life looking. The slits in the pumpkins to allow the light to shine through. Perfection. The design has been well-thought out and so the presentation is ideal.
  • Speaking of light, there are holes in the bottom of this product to insert a real candle or battery operated one. To be honest, I don’t trust myself with real candles, so I’ll be going with battery operated ones leftover from my sisters wedding.
  • No assembly! Just stick in the pumpkin stems and you are good-to-go.

Why I’m against pumpkins with faces.

Do you what the problem is with real pumpkins? They rot. Especially after they have been carved for Halloween. Initially, the cute pumpkin faces are super cute. In a week or so, they start to sag and droop. And then you just want to throw them in the backyard for the deer to eat. But then Thanksgiving rolls around a month later and you’re sad because there are no pumpkins on your front porch or walkway. You even question carving them in the first place. This is where Desert Steel has your back. Their pumpkin luminaries take you from September all the way to the end of November.

I appreciate how they are plain pumpkins, no faces because you get a three month span to use them. Faces scream “Halloween” to me and I feel as though they need to out by October 31st. But Fall decorating is one of the best activities…agreed?! It’s still warm enough outside to spiff up the perimeter of your space and all the Autumn colors look spectacular.

Why pumpkin shape & color is important.

I like options. Don’t you? I mean, when you head to a pumpkin farm, you spot pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. By now I’m sure you’ve spotted the white ones. Sometimes I like taller pumpkins and other times, only a short, stumpy one will do. Desert Steel gives you options. Choose between tall or squatty, orange or white. If you have a lighter colored home, orange pumpkins are perfect. But for a darker home? I’d go with the white ones. Then again, one of each might be spot-on. The choice is yours!

And I’m sure you’ve seen all the fake pumpkins for sale in recent years as people are getting into decorating their homes more and more. Many are made from ceramic, which is okay, but they do tend to chip and crack after a few years. These are invincible. They will last forever. And the workmanship? Phenomenal.

What’s your favorite pumpkin shape?
