Just call the Plumber

It is hard for most men to ask for help.

Last spring we started to hear a gurgling sound outside at night. Well it appeared the sewer line was clogged.

At first I was smart and called a plumber. He was pretty busy and suggested that I buy the below attachment for my garden hose, which I picked up at Home Depot. I was impressed with myself. I detached the pipe and ran the garden hose.  There was no longer a build up next to the house and the gurgling stopped. My dad didn’t even have to come over to supervise!

This Spring. The gurgling is back and the water build up is worse. That’s where my father-in- law comes in. He purchased a plumber snake at an auction.

So I met him at one of his apartments and put the snake in my van and this time; I was determined to fix the problem myself. When I say by myself I mean… with my dad’s help. I took the pipe apart again this time ran the snake into it. I made some progress but not enough. Then we jerry rigged an attachment for the snake so we could really clear the clog and we were only able to go 10 feet. We shined a light down the line and noticed the pipe had become disconnected! Ahhhhhh. And we still didn’t 100% clear the water from the house. Although the gurgling has stopped, it might be time to call the plumber. On second thought- I’m going to get  a trench digger and put in an entire new line.

To be continued.
