How will you use your buffet…or server, sideboard, credenza, console, cabinet?

I’ll skip the furniture history lesson in favor of this fact: The Halifax Buffet by NovaSolo is your shaker style showpiece to store what you please.

Perhaps grandma’s dishes, silverware and linens are the more traditional route; but why not consider tucking away entryway items like hats and mittens, even kids craft supplies?

It’s an ideal home office organizer. Your secret is safe with me! I won’t bust you for whatever room you choose to use the mahogany Halifax Buffet. Whether that be the dining room, den, living room, mud room, wash room, foyer, kitchen, kids room or sun room, the potential is endless.

So use it either in your kitchen or living space. Utensils or linens can be stored in the two pull-out drawers while the two double-door cabinets (each with an interior shelf) allow you to house dishes and glassware.

What is Hygge & how do you pronounce it?

Hoo-guh, hue-gah, or hi-gee, pronounce it as you like because hygge is more about the warm feelings the word evokes than the pronunciation.

At its core, hygge is a Danish word that defines coziness and that ultimate feeling of contentment.

With the hygge mentality, your home is now oozing warmth and comfort by creating layers of soft coziness. Couple contentment with that Danish knack for design and you have a lineup of swoon-worthy furniture from Hygge Home Furniture.

Why Hygge Home?

I’m only going to say this once: Hygge Home Furniture is the creme de la creme of home furnishings. Simply the best for style, ease and comfort.

Real and authentic furniture molded out of the finest materials. Mahogany, wicker and wood. When you inspect their furniture up close, the quality is just apparent. It will exceed your expectations.

Traditional style that will last for the ages. This isn’t furniture that goes in and out like fashion, but lasts for a lifetime.

All of their furniture comes pre-assembled, with the exception of the hutch units, dining tables, coffee tables and beds. These products do require minimal assembly.

Hygge Home helped me organize my dishes and created extra pantry space. And when my home is clean and clutter-free, it adds to my overall comfort and well-being.

Why you need the Halifax buffet for entertaining…

Scandinavians like to entertain and socialize in the comforts on their own home. This introvert agrees! So you must create an inviting space that can accommodate numerous guests.

Having a large dining table with lots of comfy chairs is vital if you want visitors to feel welcome and comfortable. But you also want a buffet table at the tip of your fingers to reach for those napkins and forks.

Hygge Home makes entertaining a breeze. And that’s what hygge is all about ~ being surrounded by family and friends at home in a soothing and inviting atmosphere.

10 quick & easy ways ignite your inner Hygge today!

1.) Add light using candles and mirrors. Scandinavians spend a lot of time indoors during those long, dark winters so it’s vital to bring light into the home.

Candlelight creates a warm atmosphere no matter the season – even unlit during the summer months. A lit candle fosters a sense of hygge through its soothing scent.

Mirrors are used to make spaces seem bigger and brighter without adding clutter to the walls. Try reflecting the candles off a mirror for more bold and beautiful light.

2.) Say it with words! This is for all of you with “Live Laugh Love” signs in your homes. In Denmark, many home good stores sell signs with happy and inspirational sayings on them to create a more uplifting space.

I have the Bible verse  Hebrews 11:1 etched on a cutting board….”Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” It is a constant source of encouragement and comfort to me.

3.) Clear the clutter. Minimalize. One aspect of Danish hygge also relates to what is often referred to as “silent “design,” in which as much excess is removed or tucked away.

Get the urge to purge! Donate what you can’t use to someone who can!  Sort through cabinets, cupboards and closets.

Keep counter tops and all surfaces free of clutter and dust. Remember…the less you own, the less you have to clean and maintain. Simplify life.

4.) To offset all that white add a pop of greenery to your indoor space. Use nature to nurture your  hygge. Most popular plant now? It’s got to be the photo-friendly Chinese money plant (or Pilea) that is frequently featured in Scandinavian interiors.

Those adorable pancake-shaped leaves provide a welcome burst of glossy green against the Danish white walls and floors. You will be floored when you see this minimalist plant in person!

Rumor has it that a Norwegian missionary, Agnar Espegren, took cuttings of this Pilea home with him in the 1940s to share with friends and family. Through his generosity, the Chinese money plant spread throughout Scandinavia and eventually the world

5.) Bring softness into your space. Decorative elements such as pillows, throws, blankets and rugs are the ideal way to achieve a sense of hygge.
6.) Highlight that fireplace, a radiating source of warmth and comfort in any home. Nothing beats snuggling up in your favorite chair by an illuminating fireplace. Good book in one hand, a cup of cocoa in the other.

Maybe even a few kids on your lap nestled in a blanket.  Keeping warm and cozy by a crackling fire with your loved ones puts you on the ultimate path to hygge.

And how about the smokey sensations of an outdoor fire pit! Make a few s’mores. Enjoy life.

Picture

7.) Spend time outdoors. Bike riding, jogging and even just strolling around the block taking in all the sights and smells will lift you up. Get moving and grooving. Use your lunch break to put on some sneakers and take a brisk walk.

Feel the sun on your face, the wind in your hair, the salt by the sea (if you’re lucky!) and soak in all that vitamin D. Make a mental list of all that you are grateful for!

8.) Think white. White is the popular foundation color in Denmark, creating a clean, calming sense of serenity. The color is even used on floors. White is classic design that will last the ages.

White elements in a room contribute to a feeling of natural light by making it brighter and giving an illusion of more space. Color can be incorporated through vases, wall art, plants, cushions and rugs.

9.) Unplug from your electronics. Read a good book. Play a game with your family on that clean, white floor. Be silly together. Laugh.

Stay away from technology for a few hours each day. Forget you even have a t.v. Keep your phone out of reach and out of sight!

10.) Wood is a predominant feature in Scandinavian homes, once again bringing the outdoors in. Wood and white compliment each other nicely, don’t you think?

Natural wood is used in Scandinavian design as flooring and in furniture (hello beautiful buffet) but it is also used on walls and in accessories.

White pine, ash, and beech wood are commonly used but this buffet made out of mahogany will really light up your space.

Fewer things can mean better things….

It’s true. Right? You must have durable and well-made things if you want to rely on them for a long time ~ especially a lifetime. So a little bit of investment is involved.

I’m telling you what you already suspected: with furniture, you get exactly what you pay for. Pay a low price for low grade particle board furniture and it will only last a few years, if even that until it’s busted and broken.

Wouldn’t you rather own less but what you do own is quality over quantity? This is what Hygge Home represents and what the new minimalism is all about. Your spaces have just enough, not too much.

Because home is your hiding place, your refuge, the place to go to seek shelter and peace. Let’s make it the most elegant retreat possible with Hygge Home!
