Grand Prize – #303 Hose Cart

Let’s talk about hose size

For years I’d fight with that big and bulky hose. It was too much to handle! Too big, too heavy, and too hard to haul around the yard.

While it was a sturdy and diehard hose, it wasn’t what I needed. It also provided way too much water too fast that my more fragile plants did not appreciate.

I believe that 5/8 hose size is considered standard in the USA and it’s no wonder. For the home gardener, it’s the way to go.

It’s lighter in weight as well making it easier to wind up and pull out. The smaller size also makes hauling a long distance that much easier.

I have newly planted raspberry bushes I planted on the sunny, brick side of my house and am very pleased this hose is lightweight enough for me to pull this far.

Second Prize – #1908 Hose Pot

This past summer I used my first-ever Liberty Garden Hose Pot. I love it!

I’ve come to realize just how attractive hose pots are. My small cottage on the lake and needed a hose to reach my tomato plants because the other hoses didn’t reach this spot.

Every person who walks past my place complements my attractive Liberty Garden hose pot! I know…I don’t “need” the complements to fuel my cottage vanity but it’s nice to get them all the same.

The older I get, the more I appreciate 5/8 hoses. They are so much lighter to haul around the yard. Plus, the 100-feet really goes the distance if you have farther plants, bushes and trees.

This hose pot is made of steel so realize that over time if left exposed to the elements it will rust. I will put mine in the shed for the winter.

Another option is to use it under an awning, covered porch, or patio where direct rain, water, and snow won’t hit it.

A little rust won’t hurt the product and does add to its rustic and patina appeal.

The hole in the basin is convenient for drainage purposes as you wouldn’t want water to build up in the pot to encourage rust.

The hole is also helpful if you switch to a different type of hose storage and want to continue to use the pot as a flower or veggie planter.
