Since my New Year’s weight loss resolution doesn’t seem to be “working out,” I vow to get my home more organized this year.

The timing is ideal.

Women who described their homes as “cluttered” or full of “unfinished projects” were more depressed, fatigued, and had higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol than women who felt their homes to be restful and restorative. Yikes.

Source: Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin.

So I’m thrilled that Sauder Woodworking Co. is helping us get organized with their universally alluring style now!

Those cortisol levels are going to plummet as we scratch to-do projects off the list. I see pounds falling off, folks!

Priceless if you win the Dakota Pass Credenza from Sauder boasting fabulous farmhouse design. All eyes on the credenza, not the TV propped on it!

How to enter to win!

Just fill out the easy SweepWidget form below!

Email addresses and Facebook likes help me contact you if you win!  I hope it’s you!!

Sauder style is stupendous…

Hard to believe that the Dakota Pass line is just one of over forty that Sauder proudly creates.

Imagine that. Forty distinct lines of furniture collections to choose from with Sauder Woodworking Co.

Whatever your style…whatever your taste…Sauder will have what you are looking for, including all the pieces to match your original purchase.

End tables, accent chairs, bookcases, entertainment centers, corner TV stands, media centers, kitchen work carts, chests, dressers, nightstands, armoires, mirrors, wardrobes, headboards, benches, ottomans and mind-blowing entryway solutions.

Kitchen, bedroom, den, home office, entertainment area, living room, dining room.

If you can envision it, Sauder already did!

Sauder ships for free. No minimum purchase needed. Ready to be assembled! Furniture ready to invigorate your indoor space now!

I found shipping incredibly fast and efficient. I blinked and my credenza arrived. It shipped flat via freight with all the pieces carefully packaged in Styrofoam. Everything came in perfect condition!

Now Sauder had me doing some serious style soul-searching, too. Surfing their website will inspire you with ideas for every space in your home.

What is my style? More importantly, what’s yours?

Bohemian? Rustic? Country? Shabby Chic? Coastal cottage? Traditional? Modern Farmhouse? Contemporary? Mid-Century Modern? Scandinavian?

Quite honestly. Yes to all of the above!  Love to them all!

Picture

An entertainment center for the ages….

The craftsman oak finish on the Dakota Pass Credenza boasts swoon-worthy farmhouse style. The piece looks like antiqued, aged barn wood. Be still my heart!

And the Dakota Pass Credenza can accommodate a TV up to 70″ inches. But all eyes will be on this credenza, not the TV. Don’t even bother trying to watch a movie.

A traditional take on a rustic credenza, the Dakota Pass will be the center of attention at your next family gathering. Perfect for entertaining all your friends. This is where that fancy chip and dip platter goes! Not to mention the cheese, grape and cracker tray.

At 5 feet 6 inches lengthwise, The Dakota Pass Credenza is longer than me! It requires  66 inches to fit comfortably in your space when you factor in the oak grained tabletop.

With three humongous adjustable shelves and hidden storage behind each of those rustic sliding doors, there’s room for all. You’ll have 58 inches lengthwise of actual storage space with 6 highly usable compartments that stand roughly 13 inches tall each.

Movies, games, toys, office supplies, cell phone and camera accessories, linens and those occasional dishes. That GPS you never use. All stored here.

If you want “it” out of sight, stash it in this stunning credenza. It’s gigantic! I can’t believe how much room I have to hide all my “stuff.” And that enclosed back panel with cord access is going to rock your world because cords are ugly. Time to hide them.

The Dakota Pass Credenza is beautiful to behold.  I wish you could pop over to my house and see it in person; it’s even more magnificent up close.

The grain patterns on this piece are natural and intricate to the eye. But the sliding doors are my favorite feature functionally so well! The rolling mechanism is fantastic.

This credenza looks a lot more expensive that the price tag reflects. You’d think it cost over $1000.

The stunningly true origins of Sauder Woodworking Co.

Go ahead. Google Archbold, Ohio.

It’s got to be the most family-friendly place on earth. And Sauder, this third generation, family-run business hails from the idyllic Archbold. Population 4346 mind you!

Pronounced “Sow-der” they jokingly tell us on their website it rhymes with “chow-der.” Duly noted.

In 1935, Erie Sauder started the business in a barn behind his home in Archbold, Ohio. Famed for building custom cabinetry and church pews, he drifted to crafting small tables from the leftover wood.

Then in 1940 something amazing happened. A traveling salesman placed an order for 25,000 of these tables. Imagine getting that order at that time period! Erie Sauder must have panicked!

But he rose to the challenge and in 1953 patented a snap-together table that could be assembled at home.

Bam. Ready-to-assemble furniture on your doorstep. Sauder creates all your home furnishing needs including entertainment storage, home office, bedroom, kitchen and organizational pieces.

Now Sauder Woodworking Co. is North America’s leading producer of ready-to-assemble furniture and one of the top five residential furniture manufacturers in the United States.

We love how 80% of Sauder® furniture is still manufactured in Archbold, Ohio. So Sauder sticks to their roots! An all-American Company.

And yet this small town boasts a 4 million square foot facility that employs 2,400 workers. This is the American Dream in action, folks.

I know what you’re thinking right now…

Ready-To-Assemble furniture. I think I can read your brain. Why would you want to assemble your own furniture?

Because you are going to pay less. A lot less if you’re willing to use a hammer, screwdriver and a little of your time to DIY.

It’s like paying yourself hundreds of dollars to do a project instead of paying a company to ship you a fully assembled piece. The savings are real.

And I can’t even describe the satisfaction you’ll get when the project is complete. Tom and I kept looking at the Dakota Pass Credenza and marveling at how amazing it looks in our space.

We did that! An investment in our home.

Sauder has your back on assembly. I speak from experience when I say you can email or call their toll-free number anytime or engage in a live chat on their website if you need help.

Their website also provides numerous streaming videos to walk you through some of the trickier steps of product assembly. So helpful!

Sauder is the easiest company to contact bar none if you get confused and require assistance in any way. They are all so nice and friendly.

And here I thought all those people were already working at Chick-fil-a!

I think it’s also fair to say that Sauder provided the most humorous instructional manual that I’ve ever read. Obviously the writer drank six cups of coffee or something much, much stronger.

With instructions like “Just think. The sooner you do this, the sooner you can do something else.”

You can’t go wrong! Tom and I couldn’t stop laughing while putting this credenza together.

Assembly in action. Tom and I tag teaming!

So no stopwatch was used when assembling the Dakota Pass Credenza. But in my estimation, it took between 3-3.5 hours.

But Tom and I took our time one Sunday afternoon not wanting to be rushed. The time might be on the high end too, because we did allow the girls to assist a bit.

Now the instruction booklet gives 29 steps to the assembly process~  steps that are well-thought out and clear to follow.

Still, go slow and don’t try to put this piece together 30 minutes before you leave for your daughter’s dance recital.

Give yourself time when you aren’t stressed or feeling rushed.

The pictures are extremely clear indicating what you must do. Pieces carefully labelled A-X.

Tools needed include a No. 2 Philips Screwdriver, a regular screwdriver and a hammer. No scary power tools required!

Picture

And while there are many small pieces including screws, cams, finish nails and such, they are all very carefully labelled in separate see-through plastic pouches.

This made the assembly process go much smoother because we were quickly able to find the parts needed as we progressed.

Most kits throw all the bits and pieces in one big plastic bag. So the separate compartments meant a lot less fumbling around looking for parts!

The piece is heavy~ and assembly is a two man, ahem…two woman job, the extra set of hands is helpful to hand out parts.

I did much of the “smaller work” as in screwing in the nuts and bolts. Other times, I just helped Tom find the pieces needed. I like to think my help made the job go smoother and quicker.

The best advice I can give is this:  When you open the box of any product that requires assembly, always do a quick assessment. Make sure all the pieces are included and in good condition.

Also check right away if there are any broken or missing pieces, and if so, notify the company immediately.

This process takes just minutes to do and will spare you much frustration down the road if there are any issues.

Yes…those are real ostrich feathers. No, I don’t want to say where they came from. But no ostrich was hurt in claiming said feathers!

Eco-friendly Sauder!

So I know that most of you, my lovely readers are very environmentally conscious.

Guess what, folks?!

All Sauder® products are manufactured with engineered wood — a composite of high–quality trimmings and post–milling leftovers.

Sauder® also converts residual sawdust into electricity with their own cogeneration plant. And any remaining wood waste provides a variety of sustainable uses, like animal bedding.

Founded on ethics of stewardship and servanthood, three generations after its inception, Sauder still honors ethically environmentally practices.

Sauder strives to continue their advancements in water and energy conservation, greenhouse gas reduction, and waste and recalling efforts.

Cat in a credenza anyone?

Saving the best for last here.

Sauder is one of the few companies who keep their sense of humor in tact! Much appreciated.

It’s evident everywhere. Their website. Their instructional manuals. Their workers. Nice people. Enjoyable to team up with.

But at the root of the matter: we all crave value. We can’t always make purchases just to make us feel good or to help someone out. We want to know we got a good deal.

With Sauder….both are possible.

Because when you purchase from Sauder you are purchasing from a grass roots business with mom and pop ethics, real values and incredible product.

To say that you are getting the best bang for your buck with Sauder is the understatement of the year.

As gardeners, we are thrifty souls. We know that a penny saved is a penny earned.

Eco-Conscious Sauder is affordable for all of us who want green living for less “green.”

Our crew uses Inland Concrete bolsters lately. So far so good. What do you recommend for concrete sealant?

One other issue issue is that video games are normally serious naturally with the primary focus on learning rather than leisure. Although, there’s an entertainment aspect to keep your young ones engaged, each and every game is frequently designed to improve a specific expertise or curriculum, such as mathematics or scientific disciplines. Thanks for your posting.
