Joy in the details. That’s Virginia Dare for you! Such a pretty package to receive in the mail.

Agree? Wouldn’t you swoon, too, if this packaged arrived in your mailbox?

Yes, I’m a gardener and yes I love getting my hands dirty with soil. But there’s a time and a place for everything.

And I love pretty! Don’t you? That’s the allure of gardening for me. Flowers. Pots. Bulbs in spring and mums in fall. Annuals all summer long.

Virginia Dare is pretty. The dresses you wear for that garden party.

In fact, (and I’m letting you in on a little secret of mine)….I’m hoping this is the year Tom and I are on the local garden walk!

I’m not sure if our gardens will be ready, and of course, I think they’re never good enough.

But guess what I’ll be wearing if I make the list?

Stop by. We’ll have lemonade and dainty snacks. All served on a white table. What else?

English teaching – sub out the frump in me!

I think most of you know that I’m an ELA teacher by trade. So please pardon all my spelling and grammatical errors. Womp. Womp. If only I had an editor!

When proofing, it’s easy to see others’ mistakes but somehow your own escape notice. Frustrating!

So I have been substitute teaching not only to earn a little cash but to help me get re-certified in English Language Arts.

Because I need about 1000 hours in the classroom and substitute teaching is helping me fulfill this requirement.

I’m not looking to be the “best dressed sub” but I don’t want to look too frumpy either. After all, I’m teaching in the same schools my kids attend.

And I’m interacting with teachers and parents.

Like a huge slice of of peanut butter pie, does this dress ever “hit the spot.” Not only do I look professional and chic, but I am out-of-my-mind comfortable in the Emma dress all day long.

You know those sweatpants you throw on the instant you get home from work or school? Yup. I’m talking about the most comfy ones you have.

That’s the Emma dress by Virginia Dare. Made of Rayon, Nylon and Lycra, to the skin, it feels like those yoga pants you want to wear from now to eternity.

But since it’s a fitted dress with a slight stretch to it, you look sophisticated and feminine.

Comfort is key! Wrinkle-free is key. When I’m subbing, I need to be comfy. I’m working with kids all day long. Mostly elementary and middle school kids. Messy business.

The Emma dress provides that comfort but also allows me to look professional. All the while not looking dowdy. The ultimate goal!

Spot-on style~ because I have seen lots of teachers wearing a dress similar in style and color to the green Emma dress.

Overall, teachers are pretty fashionable! I love to see what they are wearing.

The only difference? My dress is of a higher quality. I can tell by the the flattering way it hangs and the incredible stitching. The zipper back is amazing.

The fabric shockingly has some weight to it (you’ll never need a slip or fear the garment is see-through). Yet the Emma dress still manages to skim my figure making me feel glamorous on a Tuesday at 10 in the morning.

Accentuating the good and  masking the bad. What more can a gal ask for?

GLORY IS 5’8″ WEARING SIZE XXL
Okay. Pockets. The modern and sophisticated woman want pockets in a dress. For her lip balm of course! And the ever changing grocery list.

The cut of this dress is so well-thought out that the Emma dress has pockets without being the least bit bulgy. An amazing feat!

And don’t even get me started on the sleeves. Hey, if you’ve been skipping those workouts and indulging in a few late night snack attacks, this is the dress for you.

The three-quarter sleeve length is flattering and feminine. Although I always carry a cardigan on me in case I get cold, overall, I find I don’t require one.

Always running around, the three-quarter length in ideal. Besides, the fabric is thick. Such high quality!

A dress that you just can’t buy at a local department store. The quality and workmanship is not invested in those dresses.

The Emma dress. Spectacular. The details in the high quality design are all there starting with the fabulous stitching. It’s as if this dress was sewn especially for me. A one-of-a-kind piece that no one else has.

I get so many compliments in it!

A little background on Virginia Dare!

They say you can’t reinvent the wheel. I respectively disagree.

Rebekah, founder of the Virginia Dress Company is doing just that with each of her new dresses. She is constantly reinventing herself with dresses that are out of this world amazing.

Design details that you don’t see anywhere else. It’s thrilling to receive her emails when she unveils new dresses because I can’t even guess what she’ll come up with next.

The hues. The textures. The lengths. The sleeves. The waistline. The patterns. All so flattering and comfortable.

But equally important is her work ethic and the values she embraces. She’s the gal that you’d love to get together with to sip some tea and nibble biscuits together. (Each looking stunning in one of her dresses of course!)

Rebekah follows the golden rule, treating other’s how she would want to be treated. This includes producers, her workers, producers and you…the consumer.

Now that’s a small business I can get behind!

Final thoughts ~ all dressed up!

I just read this quote stating that we spend the first 40 years of our lives collecting things and the last 40 getting rid of it all.

Having turned 40 this past year, it struck a chord with me.

The older I get, the less “stuff” I want or need. But what I do own I want to be of quality.

In college, I liked having 20 cheap, flimsy dresses in my wardrobe. Skimpy dresses weren’t a problem when I was a lot thinner and less aware that dresses could be see-through.

Happy ignorance in my teens and twenties!

Older and more….ahem…mature, I see no value in any dress that is skimpy or see-through. Saving it for the beach and probably not even there.

Nowadays, I just want 2-3 nice dresses that can be worn to church, school, weddings or the occasional shower or engagement party.

It’s not like I’m attending a gala any time soon if you get my drift. No stiletto heals for me.

Picture

But I do want to look pretty and presentable. Refined. Elegant. And of course, I want the dress to flatter me.

This is where The Virginia Dare Company has your back, quite literally. This is the second Virginia Dare Dress I’ve had the pleasure to sample and they are so flattering.

Giving shape and creating flattering lines where extra help is needed. Enough said!

These aren’t dresses you wear for a season and toss. They’ll be staples in your wardrobe for many seasons. I’ll still be wearing this dress when I’m 60 no doubt!

Because when what you own is high-quality, you get more years usage out of it.

The zipper on the back of this dress? The hem at the bottom? And the way the fabric was sewn together including the sleeves? All stellar. Such quality workmanship.

This is the dress you pack for a trip. I don’t think it could wrinkle if it wanted too!

Again, joy in the details. Look at you all wrinkle-free! Besides, it is also machine washable. Imagine that!

So treat yourself to one nice dress. Maybe even two.

Feel pretty. Look pretty. Best face forward each and every day with the Virginia Dare Dress Company.
