Mix up planting fast maturing veggies like radishes next to slow growing ones like carrots. So when you harvest those fast growing radishes, your carrots will have finally started to really take root and grow! The radishes will be harvested and long gone leaving room for those carrots to expand and grow. This concept is called inter-cropping in case you wanted to get all technical on me.
