Tell me you love versatile side tables as much as I do!
It’s where life happens. The surface where you place your morning coffee. Your book. Even a plant, picture frame or accent lamp.
Small, sleek and sophisticated, side tables make life easier. Big bonus when they also provide storage space, too. Where else would your coasters and that ugly TV remote go?
Today I am beyond thrilled if you win the $120 Sauder side table from the August Hill collection. With a drawer and open shelf, this versatile side table is fabulous no matter where you place it.

Easy assembly of this versatile side table…
Tom and I have assembled several pieces of furniture from Sauder lines. And this mini-assembly project is super easy.
Each Sauder product comes with a detailed instruction manual that walks you through the steps. Each piece is labelled A-Z and correlates with the directions in the book.
When we get a new piece of furniture requiring assembly, the first step is always laying out all the pieces making sure everything is included.
There’s nothing worse than being in the middle of a project and suddenly realize you’re missing a piece, bolt, screw or cam.
In my experience, we had exactly what was needed.
We’re talking about “fun” assembly, folks. The only way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Big kudos to Sauder for having the funniest instruction manual ever. Who writes these? You’ll find yourself laughing out loud!
If you have an hour to spare…
So if you have an hour to spare, you can get this side table assembled in a jiffy.
My husband put it together for me while watching a football game. Please don’t ask me who was playing, I have no clue about sports teams. Nope.
It’s a small DIY assembly project that will pack a big punch in your home. If you read the manual and follow the directions, it will be done in no time at all.
Don’t you appreciate projects like that? Small cost. Not alot of time needed but the improvement is monumental?
How did I live before having a side table to put my afternoon peppermint tea on while it cools?
Because isn’t it amazing how small pieces of furniture can have such a big impact in a home? Truly, a side table universally appealing in its timeless splendor. Neutral in the utmost.
A finish that comes in first place
The August Hill side table comes in the Dover Oak finish. It will blend easily with whatever decor you already have. And since it’s finished on all sides, looks fabulous no matter where it’s displayed from all angles.
A versatile side table that happily rests next to an armchair or sofa. A sidekick with a little sleek farmhouse glam.
The slate top finish in its grayish tones will enhance your living space. Since the top is non-wood, you don’t have to panic if you don’t have a coaster handy.
Yes, I always recommend using coasters, but it’s nothing to fuss over.
The hardware is modern, ultra chic and timeless. A pull to be proud of!
Speaking of finishes….sometimes that’s the best place to start when shopping with Sauder. With 89 marvelous finishes to choose from, the power to choose is all yours.
Light or dark? Rustic, modern, chic, traditional, country, boho, bistro, contemporary. Whatever style you are aiming for Sauder will have the finish to match.
A shelf with a view & doing the “stash and dash”
Joy in the details. That’s what I appreciate about Sauder the most. Tiny details that make their products not only stylish but function equally well.
For example, let’s take a closer look at the open top shelf. A shelf that’s not only attractive but the only place to store a few books and those eyeglasses.
Nothing worse than looking for your book and being unable to locate it when you finally find a minute to read!
The small cabinet has an adjustable drawer that you can move to suit your storage needs. This is the place to stash all that “junk” you don’t want people to see. All those TV remotes and crumpled magazines go here.
I also keep a stack of coasters on the top shelf.
If you only have 5 minutes until unexpected company shows up~ this is where you throw everything you don’t want in plain sight until they leave.
That book about healthy recipes to boost metabolism. Yep. This is where it goes.
How many versatile side tables do you need?
Is that even a question? It’s more of…could one even own too many side tables?
I seriously doubt it. Let’s say you have a room with a sofa and two comfy, plush armchairs.
The sofa needs side tables on each end. And of course, each of the chairs require a slick side table. So that’s four side tables in just one room.
After all, if you’re sipping coffee on one end of the couch and your kid is sipping hot cocoa on the other side, where will the mugs go? Share a table? Unthinkable.
The two chairs are nowhere near the sofa so they obviously each need a side table. And we’re just analyzing one room in your house.
How about your other living room with a couch and plush chair? Yikes. You need four more side tables for that room.
It never ends. Good thing that side tables are fairly compact. They fit in tight spaces like this beauty from the August Hill collection.
The Versatile Side Table by Sauder
Ready to live in a perfect world?
Because in a perfect world the surface of a side table is roughly 20 inches long. Any shorter than that and there’s simply not room for your lamp, coffee, reading glasses and book.
This side table by Sauder measures 21 in inches long and 14.5 wide, a roomy enough surface for everything you need to place on this table.
Perhaps the biggest plus is that the August Hill Side Table stands proud at 24.75 inches, the perfect height off the ground.
Not too tall so that you are reaching up to grab your coffee, but not too low either. The ideal height for tea time and beyond!
Looks and price
Let’s talk about price. With Sauder I can’t help myself. It never ceases to stun me what you get for the price.
I really like to explore “home fashion” and what’s trending now in interior accents. It’s fun to get inspired and make your indoor dwelling a place you want to kick back and relax in.
Especially in the depths of winter….the January/February doldrums are real! Getting outside is a rarity, it’s just too cold.
This is why it’s vital to make your indoors space a pleasant place. Sauder helps us accomplish this goal within our budget.
Pieces of furniture that look so much more expensive than their price tag reflects. I’ve seen similar side tables for hundreds of dollars elsewhere. (Insert big sigh here!)
No thanks. We don’t have extra money to blow with three kids, two dogs and a cat.
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather save a few hundred bucks by taking an hour for assembly.
